I've had a pretty awful week which included having a dodgy tummy again and booking a flight to America in a very dittzy way.
The problem with the American flight was that I wanted to fly into New York and return from Seattle. My head is still not right since Davy died. If he was still with me I would have run it by him before pressing the button. he would have called me a silly girl (or something stronger), I would have corrected my obvious error, then pressed the button.
This time I had to rely on myself and, knowing the mess I can get myself into, I checked and checked again. Then pressed the button. When I went over to the office I told them that a single fare was dearer than a return and, therefore, I had booked a return and would have to do the same for my return from Seattle. But. they said, you should have booked a return into New York and back from Seattle. Simples. Why did I not see that myself because I've done it many times before. Dhhhh!!
This morning I spoke to a very nice BA man who quoted £1210.60 for my Seattle ticket. I asked if it would be cheaper to book a return and not use it. He said "Ehh.....No?" Outragious! I asked him to check the next day. Whew it had gone down to £309.60. Now this ain't rocket science. I booked the cheap ticket. Result.

It is strange isn't it how some days your head just doesn't work. Given an hour or two to re-think it and all becomes clear. Glad you got your flights sorted anyhow, now you have something to plan and look forward to. A x
Glad you got it right and got the best flight prices. You now have something to really look forward to. :-)
Nuts in May
I get into trouble like that all the time and I don't know why.
Glad it's dropped and be prepared for a bit of cool weather over on this continent.
I dunno. You've got a whole officeful of bright girls that you trained to do things like that and yet you go and do it yourself!
Shouldn't you take one of them to look after you on your trip?
Last summer when I found out my mother was dying and I need to get to Los Angeles as quickly as possible for as cheaply as possible, my husband and I both lost our heads and made some ridiculous decisions about the flights there and back. My husband is brilliant, so it taught me that even smart people with their heads on straight can become goofy.
Whew. That sounds like something I'd do. I've learned not to book on first try. I check and check and then wait a few hours and then check again before I book. It seems my brain has a disconnect, and I sit and stew about it for a while and then I can see where I need to make changes. See you real soon. Flagmaker

Work From Home
Gosh, Seattle isn't that far from San Francisco! In the days when I used to have a job and my income was $90,000 more a year, I would have loved to fly up to meet you for lunch..it's less than a 2 hour flight from me!
I'm off the 17th to spend three weeks in GA again with my mom who just celebrated her 86th birthday. She is legally blind from macular degeneration - still lives alone but it is time for her to go into assistive living which she is fighting like crazy. She absolutely won't come out here.
Stress can play tricks with your mind. Glad you got that cheaper flight sorted. Enjoy the trip.
So sorry to hear about OG. I have just read many of your posts and your regular struggle to get the right diagnosis and care for him. You were so fortunate to have each other. He had the right person fighting for him in his corner. Take care of yourself, some of the deepest grieving takes place when the crowds have gone.
Stress is probably what's doing it to you. I'm sorry you're struggling but actually, you seem to be doing remarkably well. My brain's gone missing these days and with very little excuse!
Hope you're not trying to fly into NY this week. I'm in Philly & we've had so much snow this season (over 70.5" - a lot for us) that flights have been canceled for a week straight. Hope you enjoy your trip whenever you get here!

My head doesn't seem to work most dsys Anne!
I'm really looking forward to this trip Maggie. It has been a long hard winter this year.
We have been reading of your bad weather aims. Pity that it hasn't extended to Vancouver for the Winter Olympics. Sods law!
I also trained them to get on with their own work DogLover, not take time out to look after me!
That makes me feel a whole lot better Leilani. Thanks.
The frightening thing is Flagmaker, that is exactly what I did! And then did it wrong!
I think it is the best thing I could have done kanishk
Oh! I was in San Francisco about 7years ago RNSANE. Great city. We could have met up, but I guess in those days you were working long hours. Sorry to hear of your mum, but how wonderful that she is still such a fighter. Good for her.
I have other stresses that are playing with my mind too rosiero. But no doubt I'll overcome.
At the moment the car is the place where I do most of my gieving MOB. As I drive I find myself talking to OG, wondering how he is and telling him I'll be with him again one day.
To tell you the truth Jay I don't feel stressed. I hope that I'm not burying it. I guess time will tell.
No Mare, I'm not going until late spring.
My brain? I can't remember if I ever had one Jay!
