WELL HERE I AM

I took the flight out of New York yesterday bound for Seattle, THE HOME OF STARBUCKS. When we go into the city I'll take a photograph of the original coffee house.

The weather is perfect, unlike the dreadful weather we had in NY, and my good friends of 35+ years are looking after me so well. I have my own little house in the garden with all mod-cons, hotel style buffet breakfast provided, laundry and chauffer service, tour guide, wonderful food, and good conversation.

They live in the country where it's quiet and extremely beautiful. Last night we went to their local Mexican restaurant for a great meal. After a good nights sleep I'm now good to go.

One of the best things is that I now have access to a REAL computer. I was having severe withdrawals!

I'm here until 24th and then, BA strike and vulcanic dust permitting, back to blighty to catch a plane to my next destination! Which is? Ahh, that would be telling.

I'm not jealous, or anything, RC, but all this travelling is making me unsettled!
Enjoy it.

As I said before, it's just a short two hour flight from Seattle to glorious San Francisco and I will gladly show you all the sights and see that you are properly wined and dined - should you be able to get down this way!

Davy and I spent a few days in San Francisco once Carmen and I can honestly say that it's the maddest place that I have ever been in my life. We loved it. I had the best grandonla in the world there too. We stayed at Fisherman's Wharf on Labour Day weekend and had a ball. Then we took the overnight sleeper up to Eugene and met our friends that I'm staying with now and did a trip to Crater Lake and Paradise. I have some wonderful memories of this country. So, I guess what I'm saying is, wait for the knock on the door. That will be me.

You've seen some of the best parts of our Pacific Northwest. I remember, on my 30th birthday, staying with friends who were students at the University of Oregon at Eugene. They took me to a Frank Zappa concert in Portland. It is so beautiful up there and, especially in the Seattle area. I hope you get to Victoria and Vancouver as well. I just love Butchart Gardens. It's a bit early but maybe the roses are blooming.

If, and when, you ever make it back to San Francisco, I'll get the tea kettle on ( though my British friends say I can't make a proper cup of tea ) - well, I could make a gin and tonic - though I prefer other spirits!
